WRAS & L8 Compliance
Regulation Requirements
The regulations (ACOP, L8) require regular cleaning and disinfections of domestic water systems. The ACOP L8 recommends a clean for domestic services in the following situations:
- If routine inspection shows it to be necessary (see paragraphs 180-182 of ACOP).
- If the system or part of it has been substantially altered or entered for maintenance purposes in a manner which may lead to contamination; or
- During or following an outbreak or suspected outbreak of Legionellosis.
Britewater provides fully trained field services for the cleaning of domestic water systems to HSE L8 and BS6700.
A variety of chemicals are used to disinfect the system following a clean.
- Water tank cleaning consists of:
- Pre clean chlorination
- Thoroughly clean all surfaces and ball float to remove deposits, slimes, rust etc. by brushing, scraping or high pressure jetting;
- Remove all debris and water from the tank using the wet vacuum equipment;
- Refill and chlorinate tank, pulling chlorinated water through each outlet.
- Report and certificate on completion.
WRAS – Water Regulations Guide gives guidance on correct installation of domestic water systems.
