Chlorine Dioxide – Bioxide CD
Chlorine Dioxide has long been used in the paper industry as an effective biocide and bleeding agent. In recent years the technology has been developed for use in domestic water systems and it has also been used for drinking water disinfection in USA for many years.
Today Britewater have available Bioxide CD produced on site by a generator providing a safe and effective method producing the biocide in commercial quantities. Britewater also have available a stabilised product which can be dosed directly for smaller applications.
Generator units are available for quantities to treat water quantities from a few hundred litres per day to several hundred cubic metres per day. Our generators incorporate low level cut off dosing in proportion to flow.
Application
BIOXIDE CD has been successfully used in a wide range of applications for cooling towers, disinfection of tank and pipework, treatment of domestic water services on residential homes and university halls of residence.
Dosing chlorine dioxide continuously to domestic water systems at 0-0.5ppm gives protection against Legionella and removes bio slimes in these systems. Continuous dosing allows hot water temps to be reduced this avoiding the need for Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMV’s) and reduces the risks of scalding.
Chlorine Dioxide dosed at low levels continuously in to domestic water system gradually removes biofilms (bacterial slimes) which often are present in pipework. In systems where Legionella and Pseudomonas persistently test positive generally suggests the presence of biofilms. Continuous application of ClO2 will gradually remove these slimes leading to clearer and safer water system.
